Let’s figure out if we could be a dynamic duo.

Hi, I’m Dr. Lindsay Uman! I’m a registered clinical psychologist
who is known for being easy to talk to, super nonjudgemental, and kind.

I also have a knack for finding humour in therapy while being genuine and supportive.

I help kids & teens overcome worries and live a life that’s not controlled by fear, “what ifs”, OCD, and other mental health difficulties.

I also work with parents - there’s so much power parents have to make changes in their children’s (and in their own!) lives.

Ready to feel the weight lifted?

I’ll make therapy a positive experience, even when you do hard things, like share things you haven’t told anyone else, push yourself, and put in the work. This’ll be easier when you know I’m invested in your success and I’ll meet you where you’re at and help you grow. I won’t judge your decisions – nobody is perfect.

We’ll work together until you’re ready to thrive on your own, and prove to yourself that you’ve got this.

Therapy doesn’t last forever, and later on, if new challenges come up, or life happens, you can come back. For me, the biggest compliment has been having repeat clients who come back years later because they had a great experience the first time when they learned they could be authentic and improve their life.

Whether my clients are kids, teens, or parents, if you’re motivated to make changes, and committed to therapy: I’ll be your biggest cheerleader using research-backed therapies to  help you overcome difficulties and accomplish things you never thought you could!

A little about me:

I didn’t always know I wanted to be a clinical psychologist. It wasn’t until I had a class on human behaviour in marketing that I realized: I wanted to use psychology to help people - not to advertise stuff to sell them. The rest is history! Quick fun facts:  I have two younger sisters (and I’m birthday twins with one of them!). I love being a mom, learning languages, and visiting my hometown of Montreal whenever I can. And I’m told I have an infectious laugh.

Therapy doesn’t have to be boring or painful – if you’re looking for a laid-back style that feels more like a conversation rather than “therapy” (and maybe even a little fun), let’s get started!

Credentials

I received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Dalhousie University and completed my residency at Alberta Children’s Hospital, giving me years of formal training and supervision. I am experienced in CBT and various other scientifically-backed therapy modalities – I’ll customize sessions for you.

My doctoral dissertation on anxiety and needle pain gathered international attention, including media articles and interviews that were translated into a bunch of languages (this is my nerdy celebrity moment!). I also received the award for the highest GPA out of all the undergrad psychology students graduating from Concordia University in my year (phew – that was a lot of work).

Before joining Red Chair Psychology, I’ve helped clients for over 15 years through my public health roles in community mental health, health psychology, and the complex pain team. I also currently serve as a Clinical Team Leader and practise as a psychologist in the public health sector.
